About Us - The Woodis Bunch

Greetings!
We are The Woodis Bunch
of
Crooked Pines Farm

The Woodis Bunch November 2005

This page includes an introduction to the Woodis family, some pictures of our family and a look at our life at Crooked Pines farm. As you can see we are now a horse family. Soon Charlie Brown (Emily's horse) will be moving to Crooked Pines. We can hardly wait!!

Now, let me introduce you to our family.

Jessie - Daddy, Machinist at The Tennessee Valley Authority, Chief Executive Officer of Crooked Pines Ministries and Gentleman Farmer

Mary - Mommy, Birth Doula, Co-Administrator of Creekside Academy, Educator, Domestic Administrator and leader of Northwest Alabama Christian Home Educators Association. This is a Support Group and umbrella group for Home School Legal Defense.

Jessica - Author of "The Tudors...", Student, Domestic Supervisor, Cook, and our principal Bread baker. Jessica is really Mary's right hand!

Emily - Cook, Student and farmer's assistant.

Parker-Daniil - Chief Encourager, farmer's assistant, construction assistant and master helper extraordinaire!

To learn more about our family please follow this link to our Camping and Hiking page. I have placed links there to some wonderful places that we have visited over the years.

On our farm we have the following critters:

Charlie Brown

8 brush goats - This group is ever changing!

20 - 30 chickens  and 2 ducks - it depends on the season! We allow our chickens free-range for healthier birds and eggs.

Rosy                                Buffy Dog (now deceased)

Introducing: Sugar Baby                                Archer

Bo

Rosy and Kodiak "Bear Bear"              Renno- a very spoiled kitty

       Betsy Ridley                       Lilly Bug

Mitzy - Daddy's cat         And of course, Funny Bunny

We also have a seasonal vegetable garden that includes the normal southern vegetables and a few herbs. We have tomatoes, lima beans, yellow squash, peppers, corn, cabbage, potatoes and cucumbers. There are even a few unusual vegetables such as: Jerusalem artichokes and asparagus.

Because we are concerned about health and nutrition we are members of a local food buying club. Currently we buy through United Northeast, but in the past we have purchased from Ozark Cooperative Warehouse. If you live in the Northwest Alabama area, and are interested in purchasing organic foods, foods that are hard to find, whole grains, or just buying once a month and splitting large quantity discounts with others, please contact us so we can get you involved!
